Ice velocity monitoring of Livingston Island glaciers by time series SAR data
Mila Atanasova
Abstract:
The purpose of the present study is to monitoring the displacements and detects the deformations that have occurred in the glaciers surface on Livingston Island using SAR data. For this purpose, data from synthetic aperture radars based on the European Space Agency’s Sentinel 1A/B were used. Time series of radar images have been created for the last two summer periods, including December 2021 to the end of March 2022 and similarly December 2022 to the end of March 2023, through which the changes in the glaciers are monitoring. The rate of the glacier velocities for an interval of 12 days was determined. The obtained results will be analyzed together with GNSS data for the displacements of points on the surface of the Perunica glacier.
